I'm back to visit my blog today. Welcome back to me! :-)
There are so many things that happened in my life for the past months that I hadn't had the chance to update this page (faulted mostly since I keep my pictures in IG now).
Anyway, sharing some pics of my kids and of our quick getaway trip to Hong Kong and Macau in July.

8th Wedding Anniversary
For you, my love, on our 8th anniversary...
God Gave Me You
Bryan White
For all the times I felt cheated, I complained
You know how I love to complain
For all the wrongs I repeated, though I was to blame
I still cursed that rain
I didn't have a prayer, didn't have a clue
Then out of the blue
God gave me you to show me what's real
There's more to life than just how I feel
And all that I'm worth is right before my eyes
And all that I live for though I didn't know why
Now I do, 'cause God gave me you
For all the times I wore my self pity like a favorite shirt
All wrapped up in that hurt
For every glass I saw, I saw half empty
Now it overflows like a river through my soul
From every doubt I had, I'm finally free
I truly believe
God gave me you to show me what's real
There's more to life than just how I feel
And all that I'm worth is right before my eyes
And all that I live for though I didn't know why
Now I do, 'cause God gave me you
In your arms I'm someone new
With ever tender kiss from you
Oh must confess
I've been blessed
God gave me you to show me what's real
There's more to life than just how I feel

Starbucks Date
My hubby and I spent last Saturday afternoon on a date. The school activity in our daughter's school had been postponed due to bad weather and we suddenly found ourselves with some "free" time to do some errands and go out for some Starbucks. I actually feel that it's been ages since we last we had time for a date like this. So many things are happening all at the same time plus we also had been very mindful about our expenses lately that we really had to skimp on many luxuries such as buying a cup of coffee from Starbucks (yes, I now consider this a luxury). However, God is good and so He permitted us to sit in a cozy coffee shop for an hour just talking about anything, drinking some yummy beverage and eating a wonderful, crusty blueberry cheesecake. Ah! Thank God for rainy weather! :-)
Anyway, speaking of skimping on luxuries, there is a website I found which makes me "crave" for discount jewelry. You see, I had recently lost my gold scapular and had felt so bad. This made me resolve to be more careful with my stuff and also to maybe just move to using fashion jewelry which is so much practical and worry-free. Do you think the same way especially whenever you lose a precious jewelry item? I do.

Graduating from Educhild
My husband and I will graduate from our 3-month Educhild course "First Steps" on June 1. Overall, it's been a very fruitful journey for us. We were able to learn a lot about "raising kids" and have learned much about each other as well.
I think a part from the example of the Holy Family and our own parents, we also would like to pattern our so-called parenting stlye to the couple in the picture. They are Dona Dolores and Don Jose Escriva, parents of St. Josemaria. To raise a SAINT - yes, that is our highest ideal and that is what we hope and pray to God to become a reality. Our kids may not be publicly proclaimed saints but we hope that by our example, we would be able to bring them up well, with the grace of God.

What to Do Today?
It's officially the second day of the Shutdown Holiday in my (old) company and I am pleasantly surprised to find myself with time to spare. Now since we cannot be idle doing nothing (lest the devil gets us by surprise), I am thinking of what to do with the aim to be productive and of course, not to break the bank. :-)
Then I thought of this picture. This is taken in one of our office activities wherein we were treated to a free 5-minute massage. Wow! Look at those ladies in cheap dickies scrubs giving me and Janine a nice back massage. Truly a wonderful treat!
Now if I can just book a couple's massage at The Spa later. I still have some gift certificates to spare.

North Park Dinner
After starving for hours during our office party in SMX, my friends and I headed back to Makati to eat at North Park to fill up our hungry tummies with some delicious Chinese food.
Let me share some pics!
Definitely yummy!!!
To Buy...
For Christmas, I am going to ask Hubby to buy me a TV mount for our LCD TVs at home. We need to buy flat mounts that would hold up our TVs just like this picture below:
Having it mounted on the wall helps prevent the kids from watching TV too close. So when it's on the wall, they have no choice but to sit on the sofa and watch from afar. And I don't have to worry about their eyesight getting bad especially when they are still young.
Another thing that's good about having your TV mounted is that you save space. So when we invite friends over to play Nintendo Wii or sing using the videoke, we don't have to move the furniture so that all of us will fit in the room. Hahahaha!
Now I wonder if my husband still reads my blog. :-)

Through Thick or Thin
I received this special gift last month from my circle group. It's a picture of the parents of St. Josemaria, or who we fondly call "Abuela and Abuelo".
If you watched the movie "There Be Dragons" you will see there a snippet of the simple lives of Don Jose and Dona Dolores Escriva. They were a Catholic couple whom God had chosen to be seedbed for the vocation of a great saint. They had filled the Escriva home with love and cheerfulness that even though God had sent them many trials and hardships in life (at one point, they lost their 3 younger daughters and went bankrupt). It was almost unimaginable how they faced all these problems with a lot of faith in God and serenity.
Reflecting on their lives, I would naturally would go to them for inspiration (and ask them for favors!) especially whenever we feel the pinch. I would think about how the Abuela maintained her dignity and elegance amidst severe money troubles and the lack of even the family's basic needs. I would also imagine how the Abuelo, while he lost his business and received the ire of many, continued to work and find ways to fend his growing family with true trust in God.
Their example alone gives my husband and I the strength to carry on our duties to our family. And like them, we rely on the grace of God to help us with our needs. :-)

Date at Friday's
I treated out my hubby to dinner last Tuesday since I received my bonus that day.
That night, we reminisced the "olden" times when we would dine, talk (and stare at each other) for hours, at first only as friends and later on as bf/gf , at our favorite resto, Bennigan's. Oh we miss Bennigan's! Food and ambience-wise, Bennigan's was better (for me) than Friday's. But since Bennigan's closed shop in the Phillipines some years ago, we just settled for Friday's instead.
Anyway, I thought that the servings at Friday's were too small and too pricey. Maybe it was more worthwhile to have dined at a hotel instead.
Hmp. Next time.

Enough is Enough
My husband came to pick me up at the office last Monday night and told me that he gave his notice of resignation at work. It has been something that we have discussing about in the past weeks, even months. I just didn’t know he was going to do it so soon, and when he told me, I had to catch my breath.
He made that decision because of working conditions. They were very, very poor. Actually, I give him a lot of credit for putting up with it for as long as he did. However, for him, enough is enough and so he decided to quit.
With the baby coming soon and the bills endlessly piling up, maybe we do have some reason to be scared. To be honest, I sometimes do get that feeling of uncertainty in my stomach. However, it's not the end of the world ~ not yet and far from it!!! We remain to stay positive. I am proud that he made a firm stand on his morals. And if only for that, he deserves something much, much better.

Last Monday...
My husband and I had a post-birthday dinner celebration on Monday night at Conti's. The weather was kind of perfect. It was a cold night because it was drizzling a bit. We walked towards the restaurant with hands together under our small umbrella which I thought was so romantic. :-)
We ordered our usual favorites: mango royale salad, baked salmon and lengua estofado. It was so yummy that not a single bit of food was left on our plates. Our conversation during dinner revolved mostly on domestic matters: Zoe, baby boy, housekeeping...you know, that kind of thing.
We talked and talked about the present as well as the future. For example, we both agreed to get Conti's again as our caterer on baby boy's baptism which wouldn't be a long time from now (we plan to have the baptism by 1st week of October) just like we did during Zoe's own baptism three years ago. We also discussed the baby boy's name...yes, we're definitely getting there soon! I hope we will get to decide on the name very, very soon!

Anyway, we also talked about our plan to have a house renovation. I told my husband that I would love to re-design our dining room. I pointed out to him the nice mirror wall in Conti's and told him that I want to have something like that done to our huge dining room wall. I also told him that I've been looking at some Cheap Rugs online because I plan to place several Area Rugs both in the dining and living room. My plan is to put complementary rugs which would give the house a sort of theme. Rugs are the perfect thing to put coordination in the color-themes amongst the rooms in the house. My husband just had to agree with me (why wouldn't he?).
Oh last Monday night was one of those perfect nights!

Can You Read My Mind?
On the way to the supermarket coming from the office, I asked my hubby if we can eat dinner first before doing the grocery. Here's how our conversation went:
Me: Let's eat first. Can you read my mind as to where I want to eat?
Him: Ikaw naman, do you really want me guess that you want to eat at A Venetto? (smiles)
Me: Hahaha! Sakto! Ang galing mo talaga!
So we head to Pizzeria a Venetto right after parking.
While waiting for the food, we entertained ourselves by guessing who these guys are in the mural.

Now for the order of the day:
Seafood Pesto Pie (small)...

and Classic Carbonara...

The servings were big that we were so full. The food we took home was actually still enough to be my lunch-baon the next day.
On a side note, I just love that they have parmesan cheese and pepper flakes on hand all the time...
